The Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy Bill is now the subject of legislation in the Dáil and will inevitably become law. It is rare that legislation, once passed, is ever repealed, and therefore it is crucial that the concerns of General Practitioners be reflected in this process now. It is our view that the ICGP Board has not, to date, adequately reflected these concerns. We feel it must seek a mandate by which to inform the Government of our views. It is our opinion that the Board itself should have called an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) and not have assumed the opinions of its members. There is potential for lasting division regarding abortion provision in Ireland, and to avoid this situation, we are calling for an EGM so that there can be no doubt as to the views of the ICGP membership.
To do this, we need 350 signatures of existing members, and we ask that you sign this petition.
